Shopping For Dishwashers
Believe it or not, there's a whole range of different types of dishwashers out there. Our Dishwasher Buying Guide is full of useful advice to help you chose the right dishwasher for you
FAQ - How To Choose The Best Dishwasher.
Q1 - What is the size difference between a slimline and standard dishwasher?
A standard dishwasher is 600mm wide. A slimline model is narrower, measuring just 450mm. Both are 550mm high.
On average a slimline dishwasher will fit between 8 and 9 place settings. However, standard size dishwashers cater for between 12 to 15 settings.
Q2 - What are the best features to look for when buying a new dishwasher?
Adjustable Racks & Foldable Pate Racks - Loading flexibility is really important. Adjustable internal basket systems will enable you to fit more inside your dishwasher. The ability to raise or lower racks and fold down racks enables larger, awkward shaped dishes, pans, plates and glasses to be loaded with ease.
Cutlery Tray - Cutlery trays are found at the top of a dishwasher. They eliminate the need for an additional cutlery basket. This means space is maximised inside the cavity.
Delay Start - Programme the dishwasher to start at a time most suitable for you! Delay start allows you to take advantage of low cost energy tariffs. It’s possible to time your wash to finish just in time for dinner too so you’ll have warm plates ready for serving.
Express/Quick Wash - If you regularly host dinner parties this is a really handy function. In around 25 minutes you can wash and re-use your dining set so it’s sparkling clean and ready for the next course.
Q3 - What is a smart dishwasher?
Smart dishwashers include Wi Fi connectivity so they can be controlled remotely. It’s possible to start wash cycles and check progress via a dedicated app through your smartphone. Alternatively you can control a smart dishwasher with just your voice when you connect it to voice control systems like Alexa. You’ll also receive alerts in the event of a malfunction or if detergent is running low.
Smart dishwashers feature internal sensors. These sensors monitor the size and dirtiness of the load. The sensors automatically adjust your cycle to clean dishes perfectly while optimising water and energy consumption.
Free Standing Dishwashers
The clue’s in the name. Freestanding Dishwashers are indeed free standing. They are designed so they don’t need to fit under a worktop or counter as they are visually presentable from all sides. These dishwashers are available in a large range of styles, dimensions and finishes.
Slimline freestanding dishwasher’s are just 450mm wide. They are ideal for those who are limited on space as you can fit one of these into almost any nook and cranny!
Integrated Dishwashers
Also referred to as a built in dishwasher, integrated dishwashers are great for those who want to keep their dishwasher discreet and subtle.
They are designed to blend into your kitchen furniture as a door fascia is attached to the front panel. An ideal choice for a modern, streamline kitchen interior.
They are available in standard and slimline sizes.
Semi Integrated Dishwasher
A semi integrated dishwasher offers the subtlety and discreetness that a fully integrated dishwasher offers but with the ability to access the dishwasher controls on the front panel
A reduced height kitchen door fascia is mounted to the front of the dishwasher while the dishwasher controls remain on show for ease of use.
Slimline Compact Dishwashers
Ideal for smaller kitchens, where space is an issue. Slimline dishwashers offer all the functionality of a standard 60cm dishwasher in a compact, 45cm size.
Slimline dishwashers are a great alternative for couples or individuals who would struggle to fill a standard sized dishwasher.
